On March 12-13, 2025, the HEDGE-IoT consortium gathered in Athens, Greece, for a productive two-day Plenary Meeting hosted by ICCS. This event brought together project partners to review progress, address challenges, and align on the next steps toward AI-driven energy management and real-time grid optimization.

Day 1: Project Progress and Technical Insights

The meeting kicked off with a warm welcome from ICCS and an overview of the project’s milestones and deliverables to date. Key sessions included updates on:

  • Project Management (WP1): Discussing amendments, reporting procedures, and the plan for the next period.

  • Stakeholder Requirements & System Specifications (WP2): Reviewing completed tasks, ongoing work, and identified risks.

  • Technological Enablers (WP3): Presenting the development of HEDGE-IoTโ€™s cutting-edge technology and addressing implementation challenges.

  • Interoperability Framework (WP4): Outlining the design and integration plan for ensuring seamless system operation.

  • Impact & Outreach (WP6): Sharing progress on Open Calls and strategies to maximize project impact.

  • Dissemination & Exploitation (WP7): Highlighting communication activities, dissemination strategies, and future opportunities for collaboration.

  • Demonstration (WP5): Exploring plans for real-world demonstrations and evaluating project performance.

The day concluded with a collaborative discussion, reinforcing the consortium’s shared vision and next steps.

Day 2: Data Spaces Workshop and Pilot Demonstrations

The second day began with an engaging Workshop on Data Spaces, where partners explored:

  • Introduction to Data Spaces and their core concepts

  • Presentation of the Eclipse Data Space Framework

  • Planning future workshops to deepen collaboration

Following the workshop, the focus shifted to the six pilot demonstrations across Europe. Each demo leader provided updates on progress, deployment plans, and key challenges:

  • Italy (ARETI): Advancing procurement and preparing for the pre-demo phase.

  • Slovenia (EG): Outlining deployment strategies and risk mitigation.

  • Portugal (CEVE/INESC): Sharing updates on infrastructure readiness and future actions.

  • Netherlands (AB): Presenting the latest developments and pre-demo planning.

  • Finland (ABB): Showcasing progress in implementation and identifying potential risks.

  • Greece (PPC): Discussing local deployment and next steps in the pre-demo phase.

The meeting concluded with a wrap-up session, summarizing key takeaways and reinforcing the consortium’s commitment to delivering innovative energy solutions.
